Common Ground is collaborating with our affiliate, Orange Twin ACE Corp., in developing a new non-commercial radio station for Athens and Commerce. Orange Twin, the former Girl Scout camp turned conservation-based community and record label, also is interested in the frequency, hoping to broadcast local, live and world music, issue-based talk shows and stories, said Laura Carter, one of Orange Twin's founders. Supporters are in the process of incorporating the Orange Twin Arts, Community and Education Corp., a nonprofit group, to run the station.

 A familiar face in the Common Ground kitchen—and hidden among tomato plants—is Nik Heynen, a new member of our Board of Trustees. Nik is co-coordinator of the Athens Urban Food Collective and a cook with Food Not Bombs, both Common Ground affiliate groups featured in this month's Georgia Magazine.

Food Now Athens features information about local food activism and organizations in Athens, how to start a productive garden, a community calendar, and an interview with James Talkin of the Athens Food Not Bombs chapter. Free IT Athens has recycled computers and computer accessories that they give to nonprofit organizations and community groups in Athens. These internet-ready computers run the GNU/Linux operating system and open-source software and can be customized to meet your organization's needs. Groups that are in need of computers should compose a one to two page grant proposal outlining their organization's goals, their recent successes and their information technology needs.
