On Monday,March 31st, UGA's animal rights activist group Speak Out For Species will be hosting the Athens chapter of “Meatless Mondays” at the Tate Student Center Plaza from 9 am.- 3 p.m. the Great American Meatout (a.k.a. “Meatless Monday”) is an international observance helping socially aware citizens develop diets of nonviolence, health, and sustainability. Having been dubbed the world's largest grassroots diet campaign, the Great American Meatout has a reputation for enticing its goers with a variety of spectacles; this year's event will include a “try-veg pledge”, multimedia, a lecture on vegetarian cooking, and a veggie feed-in.
